What is your educational background?

I have a MSc in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Materials Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

What is your contribution to the NOAH2 project?

I am leading work package 3, entitled “Stack components and corrosion”. The monolith stack developed in NOAH2 is metal-based and the durability is therefore heavily dependent on the corrosion resistance of the alloys. In WP3, we are working to gain better understanding of the corrosion mechanisms in the relevant atmospheres and developing protective coatings that can improve the lifetime of the stack components.

How can NOAH2 results make a difference in society in the future?

The innovative stack concept developed in NOAH2 will enable us to manufacture SOEC stacks using significantly less critical raw materials compared to conventional stack concepts, while also reducing the cost. This will result in more sustainable production of green hydrogen, which plays an important role in limiting climate change.
